About Us
Sisters in law Shelley and Karyn Walters started Marzipan one rainy Cape Town winter in 2002. It was their dream to combine their talents in fashion and marketing to create a range of locally produced costume jewellery that was affordable but still had an original and precious handmade feel.A decade later and Marzipan has evolved into a style that can be described as fun, bold, edgy and eclectic. The brand is distinctive in its daring yet harmonious use of colour and materials. There is an allure in the unusual and unexpected blend of contrasting elements in their designs.
Veronica Tom joined them in 2005 as Beader Extraordinaire. She is a talented in every respect and is an integral part of Marzipan.
Recently they have been working with community projects in South Africa sourcing locally made beads and handcrafted items such as felt and re-cycled plastic flowers for their ‘Handmade Collections.’ The range focuses much more on the traditional arts of crochet and appliqué.
Marzipan is exported to New York, London, Rome, Frankfurt and Vienna. It is also available across South Africa.
Marzipan is made with passion and worn with love the world over.

Handmade Crochet
These pieces are extremely unique in that each crochet flower is handmade, some with wool, some with recycled cotton threads and other applique materials, ribbons, buttons etc. Then we assemble them piece by piece, working them together like a puzzle.
Multi-Colour
This range is our most successful, it is vibrant and bold and almost sings with it’s spectrum of vivid colors.
Mexican and Turquoise

This collection is inspired by Summer 2012′s most energetic, inspiring and vital colour palettes. The key colours that define the Havana range are Tangerine orange and the an accent of the soothing blue green colour that Pantone calls Cockatoo. Another hot summery color palette, spicy and tropical it is reminiscent of hot jungle flowers and palm trees.
Cambodia

Stone
This is another Summer collection using the platform of earthy naturals as a base and accenting with the slate grey colours or rock and stone. Hints of pearl and floral pattern emerge in the textured combinations of crochet, wood, opaque and transparent.
Provence
In this collection, much like with Zanzibar, we took a simple natural platform of soft naturals and accented with shades of lilac and pale summery tones of purple. The name inspires soft undulating fields of french lavender..hence Provence!

When we started to design our Summer 2012 collection this year we wanted to give each range the name of a destination. Naturals and Nudes
An earthy range for earthy temperaments. We have taken the most subtlest of nudes and blended them with the earthy tones of natural. We mix and match unpolished wood beads with crystal, hand rolled clay, shell and the odd accent of an unpolished semi-precious stone.
Montblanc
Whites feature predominantly for Summer 2012 and as the name describes, this is a collection of pure whites. Simple and pure with no fuss. A collection as pure as Zen.
White Metallics
This collection inspired by the dazzling surfaces of ice and snow, accented with the glint and glimmer of bright reflections off the pure white landscape. Although it is a summer palette, it’s coolness and sharp metallic punctuations makes us think of a Winter Wonderland. I am sure it can work for both seasons, it just
China Girl
China Girl is a direct inspiration from that beautiful and timeless oriental palette of black and white with a strong accent of deep red. This little collection is proving to be as timeless as the Orient itself, (..thats a stretch really..) but our customers love it and it is re-ordered time and time again.

Pearls
Pearls are back again and we decided to do over-sized faux pearl everything. From the Super-duper Maxi choker to the three strand Betty Boo all using big fake delicious pearlescent beads. We have introduced a little bit of transparency and crystal to offset the moon like tones.
Winter Allsorts
Here you can find a variety of pieces that can add a spin onto any Winter wardrobe. Warm tones of berry and chocolate or the severe combinations of black and gold and rich metallics.
