Jewellery Care Guide
Marzipan pieces are made to be worn, lived in, and returned to often. They are assembled by hand using a mix of natural materials and carefully chosen components, selected for how they feel, how they age, and how they sit together - never for perfection, always for how they live with you.
They are not intended to last a lifetime - but with care, they can accompany you for years, changing gently with use.
Wearing
Jewellery tends to follow the rhythm of your day. In being worn often, it comes into contact with skin, movement, and the small moments that make up daily life.
To help your piece last longer, let it be the final step in your routine - put on after lotions, sunscreen, make-up, perfume, and hair products.
Removing pieces before swimming, showering, or exercising will also help preserve their structure and finish over time.
Cleaning
From time to time, your jewellery may need a gentle clean.
If something has been spilled, or a piece feels dull, it can be refreshed with a simple process:
- Use a small amount of diluted dishwashing liquid with water
- Gently clean using a soft cloth, toothbrush, or small soft brush if needed
- Rinse in a mild vinegar solution (one teaspoon vinegar per cup of water) to neutralise any soap residue
- Rinse again under clean running water
- Pat dry with a towel and allow to air-dry fully (out of direct sunlight)
Metal components can be lightly buffed with a standard gold polishing cloth to restore their finish.
Even a simple clean like this, done occasionally, can extend the life of your piece.
Storing
When not being worn, store your jewellery in a way that protects it from unnecessary exposure.
- Keep pieces inside a jewellery box, away from air, humidity, and direct sunlight
- Store items separately to avoid friction or tangling
- Lay necklaces flat where possible, or place them in individual cloth bags
A considered approach to storage helps maintain both form and finish.
Over Time
With regular wear, you may notice subtle changes - threads loosening, finishes softening, or components shifting slightly.
This is a natural part of the lifecycle of handmade jewellery. In being worn fully, and often, there may come a time when a piece needs to be restored.

Materials
Marzipan pieces are made using a combination of wood, glass, shell, crystal, and nickel-free metal components, sourced locally where possible.
Silver-tone designs use stainless steel and silver plated metal components and findings. Gold-tone designs use gold-plated stainless steel and/or brass components.
Materials are chosen for how they feel, how they age, and how they sit together - never for perfection, always for how they live with you.
